Exquisite wedding in the Maldives

A dream wedding set in paradise

The Venue

Nestled into an alluring shimmering lagoon in the Indian Ocean, LUX* South Ari Atoll offered the most enviable backdrop for this small and opulent destination wedding. Like something out of a paradise postcard, guests were greeted to bare-foot, laid-back luxury amongst romantic overwater bungalows and beach villas with a phenomenal view. And I haven't even got to the impressive wedding yet...

Katie and Jonny couldn't have picked a more remarkable spot to celebrate their marriage, and the bride and groom stopped at nothing to create the most magical experience for their guests during their stay. LUX* South Ari Atoll is perfect for a destination wedding, ensuring a secluded and serene experience from start to finish. The all-inclusive resort offers an exclusive area of the powder soft sand to have your ceremony in true tropical island tradition. Every wedding is a bespoke experience, and this one was absolutely no exception.

The Vision

The extraordinary visions from the bride and groom paired with expert wedding planning from Holly at Wonderlust Events was second to none. Being well versed in luxury destination wedding planning, Holly always reaches for the stars when it comes to her clients, and she never, ever, disappoints. From designer wedding dresses, to custom florals and luxury elegant wedding invitations, every detail was meticulously thought through to guarantee pure perfection for the wedding day. Opting for a soft and romantic beach inspired colour palette of blush pinks, blues and whites ensured the beautiful island harmonised entirely with the natural beauty of Katie and Jonny's wedding style.

The bride's wedding dress effortlessly showed off a bold, sexy, and modern aesthetic, created by avant-garde designer @berta for the beach wedding ceremony, preceding a glamorous, subtly sparkling second wedding gown (which looked equally as flawless) by @opusatelier, perfectly embellished for the evening's breathtaking celebrations. Both paired beautifully with a pair of bridal Jimmy Choo satin sandals.

@ikebanamaldives created a stunning display of elegant pastel coloured wedding flowers, including a simply stunning ivory rose bouquet and custom made floral arch with delicate hints of pinks and greens.

Wedding photographer Katie Julia captured so many beautiful images from the day, it's impossible to pick a small selection, but I think the photos above really highlight the perfect harmony of this day.

The Stationery

Katie and Jonny were keen to make a lasting impression on their guests so we knew unique luxury wedding invitations were the way to go. We printed a delicate white ink design onto recycled clear acrylic which used calligraphy and a bespoke ornate crest monogram to signify the union of their marriage. Each guest received a luxury white gift box with a pale silk blue ribbon and custom gold wax seal featuring their wedding monogram. Adorned inside were dried white hydrangea petals and their luxury clear wedding invitation.

Each guest also received a custom welcome pouch on their arrival at LUX* South Ari Atoll in their room. We printed personal messages from the bride and groom to each guest, along with an itinerary card printed in gold foil outlining the plan for their stay including yoga, a sunset cruise and beach bbq.

Their high end wedding stationery for the day included textured wedding vow books printed on handmade paper with blush pink silk ribbons for the wedding ceremony, gold foil menus with the custom crest monogram printed on the top, bespoke place cards using layers of blush pink card and frosted vellum for an extra luxurious texture, and custom wedding favour cards. Not forgetting the elegant bar sign stationery for the evening celebrations either with a 'his' and 'hers' cocktail.

I absolutely *revel* in opportunities to create high end custom destination wedding invites because it combines so many of my all time favourite loves; travel, design, weddings and luxury print techniques. You can't ask for me that that really can you?

The Ceremony

Located directly on the water's edge, the aisle's setting made for the perfect setting for this radiant wedding ceremony. Guests were greeted with a custom made linen hanging fabric welcome sign swaying peacefully between palm trees, while the bespoke beach wedding floral arch made for a focal point of the entire stretch of beach. Katie and Jonny said their wedding vows surrounded by love, beauty and idyllic views. Getting married has never looked so magical.

The Reception

I think one of the most enchanting things about a destination wedding, *especially* one a beach in the Maldives, is the way the light changes so dramatically as the day goes on. As Katie and Jonny's wedding reception approached the skies began to take on a magical collection of pastel colours to create a phenomenal romantic sunset that reflected subtly on the glistening ocean. A fairy light canopy twinkled as dusk began to fall and the guests were seating to a 5 star wedding dinner. Luxury and elegant wedding stationery including menus and wedding place cards adorned the tables alongside floral wedding table decorations that reflected the bride and grooms subtle and beautiful wedding colour palette. The celebrations continued well into the night with dancing, cocktails and the cutting of the wedding cake. A mesmerising end to a truly special wedding day.

Maybe the beautiful bride and groom will return for a beautiful wedding anniversary some time in the not too distant future. I know I definitely would...
